Testimonial in July 2012 from Marion and Jim Phipps. This is my husbands third visit and my second. We had a wonderful stay again and the welcome was lovely. It was more like meeting friends than going to a B & B. I would recommend this place to anyone and have! Rons evening meals put some restaurants to shame and are very good value for money. So well done and keep it up and hopefully see you again soon.

Testimonial in July 2012 from Phill Millard. What a great time we had, plenty of cold beers and great food. the wine flowed all night as did the jokes! I would return without a doubt.

Testimonial in July 2012 from Sarah and Delbert Fugler. From the very first hour we arrived we were made to feel at home. Our stay was too short- we could have stayed a week had we not had other reservations. Ron and Carole are a fun couple and we enjoyed our conversations with them in the evening. They both went out of their way to see that we were comfortable. Our room was clean and the facilities were up to date. Ron's breakfasts were great and different each morning. The location is in a pleasant and peacful setting. Before our departure, Carol designed a motor route through several passes in the Pyreneese on our way to our next destination. The drive was out of this world, wonderful. Also, Ron played recorded music of one of my favorite Texas performers. These are examples of how they went out of their way to see that we got personal attention. Oh-one more thing. Ron prepared a delicious meal for us. I do not have words to describe how fantastic was our visit. I totaly agree with the other reviewers that this is the best B & B in the region. You can't go wrong when you stay at Chalet le Chapeau Bleu. Hope we can return if we live long enough.

Testimonial in July 2012 from Richard and Jane Hutchins. Ron and Carole are simply the best hosts you'll find, they made our stay from beginning to end a real pleasure. The accommodation was spotless and first rate. The food was superb (even the experiment Ron) plentiful and varied. The setting for the chalet is truly beautiful with easy access to the region. Would highly recommend to all and we will definitely be back.

Testimonial in July 2012 from Karen and Dean Saunders. Another fantastic 4 days spent with Ron & Carole. This is our 3rd year staying at Chalet Le Chapeau Bleu, the hospitality just gets better! Ideal location for our motorbike holiday, we never tire of the mountain roads. Looking forward to our trip back in March 13...although leaving the bike at home! Please visit Ron & Carole, you'll not be disappointed.

Testimonial in June 2012 from Howard Fordham. ***** 5 Star - Definitely recommended. Such friendly, helpful and informative hosts - lots of ideas where to go both on the wet days (spa) and the dry ones too - amazing motorbike rides over the mountains. Free wifi and entertainment - lots of jokes from Ron at the dinner table. Spacious bedrooms - needed for storing our motorcylcye gear! Comfiest of beds, hot showers - just watch out for the low beams! Lovely gardens and amazing views. Yummy food and drinks - now need to exercise to get rid of the extra pounds put on during our stay. Ron and Carol made our stay memorable- many thanks. H & L Tours alias Howard, Liz, Den, Barbara, Nick and Saa.

Testimonial in June 2012 from Phil Millard. What a great time we had, plenty of cold beers and great food. the wine flowed all night as did the jokes! I would return without a doubt.

Testimonial in May 2012 from Geoff McDade. What a great time we had, plenty of cold beers and great food. the wine flowed all night as did the jokes! I would return without a doubt.

Testimonial in February 2012 from Milk Tray Skier in Mirfield. Ron & Carole made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. They provide a very professional service within a lovely environment. The communal lounge is warm and welcoming, and the bedrooms clean & comfortable. The breakfasts and evening meals were of excellent standard. Both Ron & Carole have good knowledge of the area, assisting us with maps and providing first hand experience of local towns and pointing out hidden gems!.

Testimonial in Oct 2011 from Kim Nawell from Australia. First day cycling (touring) in the Pyreneese, great signage to the B&B so easy to find with a warm welcome from the host. Room a bit small but was saved by the little balcony with a great outlook. Stuning walks all over so make the effort to get up the mountains. Brekky was great and if your cycling do the Col De Mente cos it will be one of those days you'll never forget. Did it on dual suspension XC bike with 12 kilos in my packs in the rain and no clipless pedals and I'm 95 kg so suck on that all youse skinny little carbon fibre dreamers(I'm just jelous) On top of the pass is a resteraunt which was open!!! Yeah in France!! Amazing!!! The nearby (to the B&B) village of St Beat has got to about as good looking a village as you can get but is spoilt with a main road going right through the middle. A picnic at the church fort has great views and gets you away from the traffic. Overall I highly recomend this location.

Testimonial in September from Couple from London, UK. Ron and Carole go out of their way to ensure that your stay is perfect. From the welcome on arrival, the communal 4 course dinner cooked, served and hosted by Ron, to the fond goodbyes on departure your stay is made memorable and it is clear that they want to be successful. Because they enjoy meeting guests and sharing experiences, there will be no end of people wanting to return - so book early! The rooms are modern and well presented and the setting is stunning. Saint Beat also offers easy access to stupendous driving, cycling and walking routes.

Testimonial in September 2011 from David Weaver in London, UK. We stayed here for a night while cycling coast to coast and thoroughly enjoyed the stay here. Ron's hospitality was top notch and we enjoyed a great evening meal after a full day cycling. Beautiful location and chalet style rooms - shame we could only stay for one night! Highly recommended! Also, top marks to Ron for putting up with my Dad calling before we got there and having a 20minute phone converstation with him!!

Testimonial in September 2011 from Lynne Hutton in Sydney, Australia. This B&B was a wonderful find! We stayed in the pretty Aspin room, which had a lovely view of the garden and mountains, and was very roomy with a nice big bathroom and powerful hairdryer. (We found the toilet was very noisy when flushed, but Ron explained this was caused by the narrow pipes). From the moment we arrived, Ron and Carole couldn't do enough for us. Carole even printed out the weather report for our next destination (San Sebastian) and gave us tips on what to see there. We were also keen to see some of the cols on the Tour de France route, and Ron gave us expert directions. A highlight was meeting and chatting to the other guests over a delicious four course meal, expertly cooked by Ron. Afterwards we all adjourned to the patio for port and coffee, a wonderful evening. We were grateful for the free wi-fi and free parking in their garden too. On our arrival home, we were delighted to receive a little note from Ron and Carole thanking us for staying with them. We highly recommend this B&B.

Testimonial in September 2011 from Terry Jones in Sydney, Australia. Ron and Carole are friendly and the most wonderful hosts. Ron is a great chef and we recommend their four course dinner and accompanying wine. The B&B is ideally situated at the foot of the Pyrennees and they are experts on the surrounding areas, offering welcome advice. The accommodation is charming and comfortable. We look forward to staying there again in the future.

Testimonial in September 2011 from Jeremy in Bristol, UK. Big thanks to Ron and Carol, fantastic hosts. A real home from home. We arrived after a fairly long motorbike ride from Santander, to be greeted with a four course meal and wine, well worth it. Perfect location for motorbiking and cycling with great roads and passes within easy reach, and cheap petrol only 7km away in Spain for the petrolheads.. The meals are a great way of meeting other people staying there, and just relaxing after the days activities. Ron has got some ideas for you if you are unsure of what to do or where to go such as Maz d'azil and Mirepoix (on the bikes). They also have wifi for that extra research.. Couldn't fault the Chapeau Bleu, well recomended.

Testimonial in August 2011 from Aaron Sosa, Barcelona, Spain. I was still groggy in the morning as I entered the bathroom and thought "what a beautiful picture" they had hanging in the wall... only to realize it was actually a window with the actual pyrenees at the bottom... I still am in shock from that moment. Aside from how beautiful and well taken care the place is... attention is beyond excellent. Increible place. Can´t wait to go back to forget about routine, work and life.

Testimonial in August 2011 from Natalie Lorimer, Rochdale, UK. Wow, where to start?? Stunning location, absolutely breathtaking views. Ron and Carole are the perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming, just what you need after a long trip! They couldn't do enough for us, are very knowledgeable about the area and made our holiday by suggesting loads of stuff for us to do. Two of the loveliest people you could ever meet. Room was lovely, clean and comfy, had 2 great night's sleep! The whole place has a really 'homely' feel to it, would love to see it in winter with the fire going. Just sorry we didn't have longer there, didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back.

Testimonial in August from Holly in Rochdale, UK. loved everything about the B&B. Location, people, atmosphere. The mountains around the area are breathtaking! Ron and Carole are so friendly and welcoming, loved being around them with their awesome stories and knowledge! Our room was perfect, felt really comfortable in it. LOVED the shower there too! 5*, would definitely recommend Chalet le Chapeau Bleu!

Testimonial in July 2011 from Nanette Sygal, Wiltshire, UK. What a find Le Chapeau Bleu was! The location of this characterful B&B is stunning, with beautiful views. Ron and Carole were the perfect hosts, ensuring we were welcomed and made comfortable. The house is lovely and the large patio was a nice place to sit and relax. I highly recommend booking the evening meal as Ron is a very accomplished chef and our four course meal was simply delicious. Our room ("Mente") was very comfortable with a large shower room. If we're in the Pyrenees again, we would certainly plan the route to return to St-Beat and stay with Ron & Carole again. Thank you both for our enjoyable stay with you and our expectations were exceeded in every way.

Testimonial in June 2011 from John and Angela Chadwick, Richmond, UK. Our stay here was the best night of our touring holiday in the south of france. On our arrival, we were met by Ron and Carol, the owners. After showing us our room (great with a wonderful view of the Pyrenees) we were invited to sit in the garden in the sunshine and offered refreshments. A group of other guests turned up (a party of French and Dutch) and we all spent the afternoon socialising and listening to some of Ron's hilarious stories. In the evening, we all enjoyed a superb home cooked meal with wine. For 20 euros, this was both on the best value meals we had but also one of the best. Carol and Ron were superb hosts, making the evening the highlight of our holiday. As the Chalet is quite near some good but inexpensive skiing areas, only 15 mins drive away, we will certainly consider a visit in the winter. All in all, we would highly recommend anyone to stay.

Testimonial in June 2011 from Richard Carden, Cockermouth, UK. I stayed here on my cycling trip through the Pyrenees. After having camped in the rain the previous two nights this place was paradise! Ran by an incredibly welcoming and friendly couple. The meal in the evening was without doubt the best I had eaten all trip (4 courses!) The owner allowed me to dry off all my wet cycling clothes, use his personal tumble dryer when they were still damp, had a safe garage for bikes, made me a packed lunch for the next day and had free beers in a cooler outside. The place may not have the greatest facilities but the owners more than make up for it with endless hospitality. Will start saving for my next trip!

Testimonial in June 2011 from Arno Van Puffelen from Rotterdam in Holand. After a rainy cycling day we dropped into Chalet Le Chapeau Blue and met the owner, which gave us a warmly welcome by his great hospitality. The best I can say is that I fully agree with the notes and remarks as given below. We have had an excellent stay due to; friendly atmosphere, the comfort beds, the excellent food, the contact with the other guests and the hospitality. For cyclist especially nice are the books of the cols and Tour de France. As frequent traveller (for private and business) I stay a big part of my life in hotels and different places and never wrote a review for one of them. Most of them doing there job or are 'just nice' - > this is different. To do something back for Ronald I would highly recommend his Chalet to you. You won't regret.

Testimonial in June 2011 from Dean and Karen Saunders from Southampton, UK. We've just got back from a 4 night stay with Ron & Carole..this is our second stay with such a lovely couple. They both make you feel so welcome, a real home from home.... Excellent rooms and the food is supberb! If you stay at Chalet Le Chapeau Bleu you definiately need to sample Rons excellent evening meals. Talk about value for money. We take our motorbike, so for all you bikers out there, we would recommend this ideal location for the excellent roads through the Pyrenees.... Ron & Carole have so much local information that you couldn't not have an enjoyable stay.

Testimonial in May 2011 from Martin Bishop from Stoke in UK. Just got back from our yearly biking trip, The stay with Ron and Carole another perfect treat. It really cant get any better than this for comfort. and a friendly English run Base to se the most fantastic sites possible. If your Motorcycling and want the best ever friendly, clean and welcoming Stay with perfect evening meals in required, then, YOU HAVE FOUND IT ! This should best a 6 rated venue if it was possible. Thanks again for a perfect Stay Regards Martin

Testimonial in June 2010 from Mr K Ashworth. We could not have been made to feel more welcome than we were by Ron & Carole in this outstanding B&B. No sooner had we arrived than we were given beer & wine and were chatting like old friends. The location is superb, surrounded by beautiful mountans in this lovely area of the Pyrenees. The room was very comfortable with a newly installed modern shower-room. Breakfast was substantial (choice of about 6 cereals, croissants, bread, yoghurt, fresh fruit) and the optional 4-course dinner was also excellent with unrestricted wine included. My wife & I are seasoned travellers and we both agree that this is one of the best places we have ever stayed.

Testimonial in June 2010 from Ian, Liverpool. A warm and friendly welcome was followed by excellent food in an informal sociable atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. I would certainly like to visit again and stay for a few days.

Testimonial in June 2010 from Eva in Zurich. Roland and Carol have set up a little paradise in a place (St-Béat) where you wouldn't automatically expect ist. A very warm welcome, fabulous food (cyclists appreciate it) and little extras which come as surprise and are included. Very rich breakfast which isn't always the case in France. Absolutely worth stopping there!

Testimonial in June 2010 from Alan, Alan and Steve in Rochdale. An absolute delight and pleasure to stay in a fantastic location with one of the best hosts i have stayed with throughout the world which i have travelled extensivley, Ron and Carol made our Motorcycle party feel completely at home in their Home, with real (come dine with me) Lol cuisine.. see you next year and thanks again.

Testimonial date June 2010 from PW Cymru, Wales. Great location for exploring the area, especially by motorcycle. Surrounded by woods and wild-life. Good accomodation a great sincere welcome. Ron's cooking ain't bad either, infact it was excellent.

Testimonial date June 2010 from KTM Biker, Cardiff. Visited on motorbikes with a friend and we were really delighted with the place. Ron and Carol are really good hosts who make you very welcome. The food was superb and the scenery was just as nice. Really nice rooms with superb views of the valley. We will be be back and will bring more friends.

Testimonial in May 2010 from Green Ninja in Stone. Ron and Carole have the most amazing guesthouse/B&B; you could ever wish for, fantastic location, beautiful views, clean bright rooms, wonderful food and Ron is the most attentive host that will accommodate your every need,i cannot reccommend this B&B; highly enough, try it,you will not be dissapointed.

Testimonial date May 2010 from Magrith (Netherlands). Despite snow in mai we had a great time in St Beat. Ron and Carole are great hosts, willing to help at any time. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Testimonial date May 2010 from D&A Excel and Lotus V8! This was our second visit to Chalet Le Chapeau Bleu and it was just as enjoyable, if not better, than our first. Ron and Carol are the perfect hosts and have been busy during the last 12 months improving the accommodation for their guests. There is always a warm and friendly atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. Guests are treated more like old friends or family members than paying visitors. The evening meal prepared by Ron was excellent. The chalet is surrounded by beautiful scenery and being nestled between the mountains is very peaceful and relaxing. If you want to be more energetic this is the ideal spot to use as a base for walking or skiing depending on the season. The only thing that Ron and Carol cannot control is the weather. The week before our stay it was hot, sunny and 25 degrees. We arrived the first week of May to find it overcast, 4 degrees with 10cms of snow on the ground and more fell during the evening. It didn't matter though as the welcome we received and the accommodation was very warm and satisfying. We will definitely be back !!

Testimonial date May 2010 from Chris. A trip to Carole and Ron's place whether for a week or a few days is like relaxation therapy. Full of small unexpected touches from coffee and snacks on arrival to exquisite 4 course meals in the evening (at an unbelieveably cheap price of 20 euros) so prepare to be fully looked after! The rooms are beautiful and clean with really comfy beds. While we were there, we met Belgian guests who were fantastic company when either sitting out on the sun terrace having a coffee or beer in the afternoon or at the table for dinner. It seems to me that this place attracts people who share the same qualities, regardless of nationality, social, interesting and very friendly, that's what a holiday stay at Chalet le Chapeau Bleu offers. The couple we met had been the previous year and say they come back every summer due to the unique experience. I loved the fact that St Beat is a quiet and tranquil town with an authentic French feel, unspoilt by the tourist trade. It's beautiful in the summer and out of the town dotted around the local area are loads of summer activities from flights to paragliding and rafting, plenty to get stuck into. There are also many lakes if you just want to take a stroll and take in the amazing scenery. Plenty of restaurants a short car trip away, also genuine tapas just over the border into Spain, approx 8km. Coming back in Winter to snowboard at the local slopes! Thanks for an awesome stay!

Testimonial date March 2010 from N & Z Pearson. An idillic location on the outskirts of St Beat within minutes of fabulous skiing in France and Spain. The accomodation is very comfortable, the food excellent and the welcome superb. I have stayed and now re-booked for both summer and winter holidays for white water rafting, hill walking, skiing and just a quiet get-away. The photos don't do it justice!

Testimonial date Feb 2010 from J Wright. Staying at Chalet le Chapeau Blue is a fantastic experience in the most amazing setting. If you want to be looked after and enjoy the scenery it is a great place to be.

Tesimonial date Jan 2010 from J Rhodes. We had a great time at new year Our bedroom & en-suite bathroom very pleasant. The Beds were snug and comfortouble. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the Kitchen Staff were very Pleasant! All in all a very warm & welcoming place to stay, with easy acces to Spain and also Many places in France with quick access to the Motorways WE WOULD RECOMEND CHALET LE CHAPEAU BLEU AS WE HAVE NOW VISITED OVER SIX TIMES, IN SUMMER & IN WINTER. EVERY TIME WE HAVE BEEN MADE WELCOME. HOPE TO SEE RON & CAROLE SOON.

Testimonial date Jan 2010 from Rick. Absolutely tremendous. Would highly recommend to anybody looking to stay in or around St Beat.

Testimonial date September 2009 from Martin. This is the second time i have visited ron & carole. I visited in may with my biker friends and was so impressed with the place i just had to return with my wife for our aniversary. she was amazed how pretty the venue and surroundings are, she sends regards to the perfect hosts with many thanks for the aniversary card and truffles awaiting us when we arrived. If your thinking of visiting this area, please make sure you stay with Ron & Carole, you will not be disapointed. thanks again Martin. P.S see you again in may 2010

Testimonial date September 2009 from Jess Hebden. Chalet le Chapeau Bleu feels like a home from home, cannot recommend it enough. I stayed with my partner for 3 night break. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a massive smile and offered a drink - perfect after a long journey! The house itself is spacious and has a lovely calm atmosphere. Our room was very prettily decorated, spotlessly clean, and with expansive views of the mountains. We had en-suite and TV/DVD in our room, with a HUGE choice of English & French DVDs to choose from provided by Ron & Carole our hosts. On all three nights we decided to go for the €20 evening meal with wine included which was superb value. The standard was way beyond our expectations with gorgeous soups and salad starters, casseroles including an amazing cassoulet (local speciality), home-cooked desserts and local cheeses. Also Ron & Carole were really helpful suggesting things to do in the area which was a plus, we went off season so enjoyed trips to thermal health spa/saunas, but during ski season all the main resorts are a really short car journey away. Chalet le Chapeau Bleu was an excellent find, WE'LL BE BACK!

Testimonial date September 2009 from Chris J (England). A trip to Carole and Ron's place whether for a week or a few days is like relaxation therapy. Testimonial date August 2009 from Tina, Ireland. Everything about it is exceptional!! The location is amazingly beautiful, with it's castle sat high along the mountain. The river gently passing through, giving a relaxed serenity. The rainbow of colour from the autumn trees, and the people with their genuine smiles and friendly natures. Ron & Carol both are wonderful people and amazing host, not to mention they're both fantastic cooks!!! Our room was sooooo comfortable, with everything you could want or need to enjoy yourself and relax. You'll NEVER find anywhere else that you'd enjoy more. Thanks Ron & Carol!!!!

Testimonial date June 09 from Ian Malyon. By chance my son and I were on a Motorcycling holiday and found ourselves in St Beat, I knew of Ron and Caroles B&B but didn't have directions. I found a local eatery and asked inside and was given a flyer with contact details on. I rang Ron and even though it was short notice they gave us a room for the night. On arrival we were greeted with cold beers and a very warm welcome, always a good start :-) The room was lovely and clean and the bathroom was great, a wet room shower that was a welcome sight after 6 hrs riding in the sweltering heat. Both my son and I felt so at home we were very tempted to stay another night before heading into Spain, but alas we couldn't. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending these great hosts to anyone, in fact I've already told some fellow bikers who having seen the pics etc said they'd stay there next time they're passing. All in all a great time was had and hope to see both Ron and Carole again sometime in the near future.

Testimonial date 15/03/2009 from Miss Niamh K. Carole and Ron were two fantastic hosts. They could not of been more accommodating. They made us feel part of their home. The food was amazing. The views from the house are breathtaking. It is an ideal location for skiers and non skiers alike. We would definitely go back again. Fantastic week.

Testimonial date 28/08/2008 from Mr. Eamonn S. Could find nothing to fault this place. All very comfortable, easy to find, beautifully situated, unusually good food and superb hospitality from hosts Ron and Carole. Strongly recommended.

Testimonial date 08/11/2008 from T Kirwan. Wow. That´s the word that comes to mind. It was so incredible I don´t know where to begin. The area is beautiful and you can feel its history, well worth the visit, but it was Ron & Carole that made it an amazingly special honeymoon for us. The room/home was so comfortable, with everything you could want.. Make sure you dine there, these folks can cook!!! We will definatly be going back.

Testimonial date November 2008 from Edmond and Tina. Everything about it is exceptional!! The location is amazingly beautiful, with it's castle sat high along the mountain. Testimonial date May 2009 from Andy. After decending the mountains in the pouring rain to have a warm welcome and a cold beer was brilliant. We where made most welcome and it felt like a home from home (only with better views). I would make the trip again just for another bowl of pepper/lime soup.

Testimonial date May 2009 from David Bartlett. Fantastic accomodation, great hosts - check out the red pepper soup. Would highly recommend this accomodation.

Testimonial date May 2009 from David Gadd. Great stay, great value for money and very hospitable. The owners are particularly friendly and helpful and Ron is himself a biker so undertands what to do when you arrive soaking wet after a sudden downpoar!

Testimonial date May 2009 from Steven Senior. What an amazing welcome at Chalet le Chapeau Bleu. Great hosts, incredibly friendly and providing some amazing food. There were 8 of us on this trip and we stayed in 10 different accomodations, all of us agreed that Chalet Le Chapeau Bleu was the highlight of the tour. I will be returning.

Testimonial date June 2009 from Richard Rock. Stayed here for four nights in May 2009, toured the area on our motorbikes - Fantastic Roads. This accommodation is one of the best places we have ever stayed: the hosts, the food, the standard of rooms and the location, all just brilliant. Think very carefully about booking elsewhere. Rated 10/10.

Testimonial date June 2009 from Mat Page. We all had a great time, your hospitality was fantastic and we all plan to come again The rest of our group want to come next time. I will be recomending you to all the bike forums I go on and I will be writing in to MCN magazine to tell of our trip and encourage all bikers to stop with you.

Testimonial date 05/06/09 from Martin Bishop. I and two other friends, venture to Europe on our motorcycles looking for a special break with roads and relaxation to fill our dreams. Ron and Carole have filled this venture without doubt, they greet us with our first beer on arrival at the gate, and the hospitality just keeps coming. They can't do enough for the guests, advising and directing guests to make the most of their stay. The accommodation is outstanding and spotless, The food is top class. I wish to say a very big thank you on behalf of us all. I am taking my wife back in August for our anniversary, and booking again for next year for the boys next venture. Highest recommendation all round, you will not find better. Regards Martin.
